LEGAL
Privacy Policy.
What we collect when you contact us, why, and your rights.
Who we are
AddictCreate is a motion design and creative studio run by Nasir Kareem and based in Nigeria. We decide how the personal data described here is used, so we are its “data controller”. You can reach us at addictcreate@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Enquiries. When you use the enquiry form or email us: your name, email address, company (optional), the type of project, a budget range and your message.
- Project communication. If you become a client: the emails, files, feedback and invoicing details we exchange to deliver your project.
- Technical data. Our website host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time, to run and secure the site.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
How we use it, and why
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal. We do this because you asked us to, as a step before a possible contract, and in our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- To deliver and invoice a project. This is necessary to perform our contract with you, and to meet legal duties such as keeping tax records.
- To keep the website working and secure. This is in our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable site.
We do not sell your data, and we will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that help us run the studio: our email provider (Google Gmail), our website host, any form-handling service we use to receive enquiries, and accountants or legal advisers where needed. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
- Video platforms. Project films are hosted by Vimeo, YouTube, Adobe or Framerate. A film loads only when you press play, except the studio showreel, which loads when it opens on the home page. When a player loads, that platform receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of these providers store or process data outside Nigeria, for example in the United States or the European Union. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses, as permitted by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies, the EU and UK GDPR.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become projects: deleted within 24 months of our last contact.
- Client project and invoicing records: kept for as long as the project needs and then for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to six years.
- Server logs: kept by our host for its standard period, usually no more than a few months.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies of its own. The video players described above may set cookies when they load: Vimeo runs with its “do not track” setting, YouTube runs in its privacy-enhanced mode, and Framerate may set a short-lived security cookie used to block bots. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and send you a copy;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it, or limit how we use it;
- stop using it where we rely on our legitimate interests;
- send it to you or another organisation in a commonly used format.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email addictcreate@gmail.com. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we use personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
